I am relieved to hear that Ryan was unharmed by the recent hurricane.
In other news, Jacob Snyder is awesome.
I bit my lower lip while eating a donut. It was weird, I could hear my teeth breaking into my flesh. But I’m a man so I’ll be all right.
My Monday night class is 4 hours long and I really want it to end forever. It will in about six weeks.
Writing good fiction is really difficult. Or else I just suck at it. Or both. Or one or the other. Or else an alternative answer which I am not aware of yet. Or else there is no definite answer and my questioning just infinitely extends beyond time, space, meaning…
I’ve had to poop twice today.

anyone know how Ryan’s doing with this whole “hurricane” thing down south? I know it didn’t hit him directly…just wondering if he was affected at all. post up if ya see this Ryan. Otherwise I’ll call ya tonight.

i will be disappointed if they dumb the movie down and put sound effects in the outer-space scenes (like in the trailer).
anyone see the trailer for aeonflux? i know very little about it, but it looks sweet.

my 2-year-old has a facination with clothes and shoes, and it drives me nuts! in a funny way. everyone ALWAYS has to be fully dressed. as soon as she wakes up she wants to put on her clothes. and it’s forbidden for her flip flops to leave her feet until bedtime. isn’t it too early for her to be like this?! i guess it’s better than raising a nudist.

Oddly enough, caramel macchiatos give me diarrhia.
Not really — but lots of caffine does.

I am back in school as well, and it kicks asteroids!!
I’m in this class called Myth and Modern Literature and we got to read this article from this rabid liberal from the 60s who was coming down on fundamentalist Christians about their denial of evolutionary “facts.” I really enjoy reading things like that. It used to bother me b/c I was like, “Oh no, my faith is being shaken” but it doesn’t really do that anymore, which is good, cause it shouldn’t. It’s funny because the article ended with him giving an example of how scientific “facts” are continually changing. His point, overall, was that science is a better philosophy because it embraces changes in ideas unlike dogmatic fundamentalism. Yet, at the same time, he tried to use scientific “facts” to invalidate the Bible. HAHAHAAHHA!!!! But anyway, it’s a great piece of writing despite how shamefully partial it is.
I’m also having a great time in Music History class. Right now, we’re studying Gregorian Chants and I’m getting to transcribe a Kyrie chant from the original medieval notation to contemporary musical notation. It’s a blast!! Jon, you should take an old Kyrie chant and adapt it for a contemporary band. That would be sweet. Oh, and Jon, you’re sexy. And I mean that in a man-crush sort of way. Harrison Ford is too (man-crush). So is the girl who was just sitting at a computer near to me (not a man crush though). But now she’s gone. I need to work up the guts to talk to her. I’ve seen her around for a while, and I’ve talked to her about twice, but that’s not enough. She used to have blue hair. I’m going to marry her.
By the way, everyone, RYAN GELINAS’S WEDDING IS IN DECEMBER. JAMES P.I.W., YOU ARE THE BEST MAN. Just so everyone will remember (kind of an inside thing between me and Ryan).
I’m on Caramel Macchiato.
THERE’S MY DIARRHIA POST FOR THE YEAR.

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

well, boys…it just so happens that i’m an uncle as of almost one hour ago. so, i suppose i’ll be back in washington this next weekend to inspect. I guess the birth wasn’t entirely smooth, but all’s well that ends well. i heard her (lucy) crying on the phone and heard that she has giant feet and resembles a bulldog. sounds like just my type.
also, something happened that was kinda funny. A phone conversation with my father about the weather was coming to an end…instead of saying “bye” he said “stay cool!”. then there was like, a second or two of silence. then we both chuckled a little as we said “bye”.
was funny.

so, went to the doctor yesterday…found out my leg had an abscess…which is basically a cavity that formed under my skin and filled with puss. It had to be drained before my wound can actually heal so they gave me about 7 shots around the area to numb it (though the shots were amazingly painful) and then cut it open and literally pushed on all parts of my lower leg to try to get all the puss out…it was the most painful part of this whole injury to date…even though my leg was numbed…
anyway. Now I have packing gausse inside my leg pushed in through the wound…sometime tomorrow I have to take the gausse out of my own leg and then hope that no more fluid builds up…if it does, I have to go through this process all over again.
on another note. Drew and Vanita will be at my house tonight around 7 pm…you all are invited over.

also, for anyone who doesn’t know WHY my leg is infected…about 20 minutes into the float trip I was trying to get out of my canoe and instead fell out and hit something underwater that punctured my leg nearly to the muscle. We tried to keep it bandaged and covered with Jacob’s disinfectant wipes (thanks Jake) for as long as possible…but on a 2 day float trip…that’s not so easy. So in the end it did get infected and I am now on Codine (for pain) and Augmentan (anti-bacterial) and hope to heal well and heal quickly. The doctor seemed pretty serious about how bad it was since she made me verify that I understood that if I didn’t have it checked out again within 24 to 48 hours that it could be a “life-altering infection”.
plus…I had to get a shot in the butt…that wasn’t fun either.
in other news…everyone go to the Pavilion in Union park tonight for hanging out…don’t ask me when or which pavilion though since I probably won’t be there…instead, call Nancy Filla here: 636-583-7799
