the row of cubes i’m in borders the row helpdesk is in. i often overhear complaints about the “computer-illiterate morons” that work here. Sometimes helpdesk personnel seem to lose patience, as evidenced by this statement I overheard this morning:
when i say “let me take a look at it” that means you should stop talking.
I liked this so much that I wrote it on our department white board.
Merry Christmas Viflers…bah humbug.
Randy, I don’t even know if you program anymore, but if you do I need some advice/help.
I have a panel with curved corners. Actually, it’s a normal panel with a transparent background and a line drawn around the outside and the line has curved corners. However, drawing the normal background is causing a sort of “flicker” effect in the app so I need to override the OnPaintBackground event. That’s fine and dandy, except that when I do that, suddenly the portion of the panel outside the curve doesn’t draw properly.
here are the before and after shots (before being without the OnPaintBackground being overridden):

What I need to do somehow, is either draw the background to memory rather than the screen, or get what the parent looks like at those coordinates and draw that into the panel…got any advice?
i posted this as a comment under jimmah’s post but decided to post it out here as well…i did the math myself…i took my bible (NIV) and did the math and it had both lamech and methuselah dying right before the flood. here are my numbers and graph
i tweaked not a number.
for anyone that hasn’t seen all the quotes (i.e. Ryan)
go to http://www.4q.cc (not .com like I thought)
so, I was wondering about the time of the flood and whatnot, and I made this little ditty to help explain it all:
http://www.livethislife.net/images/timeline.jpg
of note is that there were over 1600 years from the beginning of earth, until the flood. That’s quite alot of time for things to change on earth (technology wise).
However, the reason I post this here is because I came across a problem. When going through the ages and the dates in Genesis 5 (to find Noah’s life-time in numbers you have to go forward a few chapters from Genesis 5) I discovered that I had the flood happening around 1639…but Methuselah and Lamech didn’t die until 1657 and 1652 respectively. Anyone got an explanation? Or did I do my math wrong?
*edit*
2nd version with exact dates here:

*edit 2*
it should be noted that on timeline2.jpg I specifically have the flood date set at Methuselah’s death even though that’s not the numbers I got from working the math in Genesis 5
still on for this Thursday. Dave and Busters at 7pm. Be there or die trying.
little miss muffet sat on her tuffet, until chuck norris roundhouse kicked her into a glacier.
It snowed 8 inches yesterday, so we didn’t go see the movie.
needs to be moved to Thursday night due to the Wedding Rehersal.
How many of you can make that? (Thursday the 15th).
Ryan, I’m starting to think that if we do it Thursday that I can’t do both Fitz and D&B…I have to work Friday morning and don’t get off work until 5 or 6 on Thursday…
word
for some reason i found this hilarious.
The term cynic (as in the ancient Greek philosophers) finds its etymology in the word for dog.
Published by December 8th, 2005 in general. 1 CommentI’m going to see “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe” tonight. I’m a little worried it will be bad. (Perhaps I should be more worried that I will be overly judgmental and harsh.)
I’ll be there, Ryan!
