James: I absolutely see your point. It was just your method of getting it across that perturbed me (mind you–not dramatically perturbed, but yes, I was indeed perturbed). I wrote in a kind of weird Snyder jest, but I admit that I have bouts of issues with you, particularly when I find you a beat too critical, dismissing, or pessimistic. I don’t always feel that way but occasional it comes up. You know–a bout. I hope that sounds more reasonable than oversensitive. But moving on!–this is about politics…
I think the War is something greatly emphasized right now, and immediately associated with Bush at the moment, because it probably is the gravest and the most immediate issue we’re dealing with at the time. Why? Because, quite simply, people are dying. And that’s a big deal. Sure, you can look at abortion as an issue where people are dying, but that is not something that Bush has directly been involved with; I mean, what is he and his administration really doing about it right now? We know where he stands on abortion, but it’s not like he has power to STOP it altogether. But Iraq? He had the power, right before him, to say yes or no. That’s why it’s a more immediately important issue.
What issues do you consider more important than Iraq right now? (keep in mind what we need to mean by “important.” Does that mean immediate? Imminent? What?)

my only purpose was to see if the people that I consider to be some of the smartest Christians I know would actually have some understandings of politics. That was all.
As I told Frogie…I don’t actually have that much of an understanding of politics…it just saddens me when I see Christians say they support a candidate for reasons like “He’s a Christian” or “He’s against abortion” because politics and life are NEVER as simple as that. George W. Bush is DEFINITELY not as simple as that.
As for the whole “discussing the war” thing…if you look at my first question I just asked about George W. Bush and our Government…and there’s a whole lot more to it than the war in Iraq.
Jake…I’m pretty sure your post was joking…but if it wasn’t then I’m sorry I pissed you off…I didn’t mean to come across as condescending and I never realized you had such issues with me. My bad.
Jon: F you.

Oh, I see James. So your entire purpose was to, once again, reveal yourself just a step above the rest of us by showing how ignorant the rest of us all are. You didn’t want us talking about the War… wait, you DID want us talking about the War, because that would prove us ignorant. Well, thank you! I enjoy your condescension a little more each time!
Ass.
So what do you consider important? Abortion? Border control? I mean, if there’s an issue you want to raise then just raise the damn issue!

you have all actually illustrated my point in a very good way. I never said a thing about the war. Now arguably the war in Iraq is an incredibly important part of politics right now…but it’s far from the most important.
So…what about y’know…all the rest…do any of you know anything about politics other than what’s on TV about the war? Have any other opinions of George W. Bush at all? Anything about his past or his policies?

Jacob, what you need to realize is that Bush did not want a murderer in power of a whole nation. Politics can be confusing, but why does Bush get crap for taking a murderer out of power? Maybe they did not find weapons as they thought they would, but a lot of things could of happen instead, Iraq could of moved the weapons to other countries Iran? Russia? Bottom of the Ocean? If a murderer that just shot a family member of your in the head then pulled the gun and said he was going to kill you, would you believe him? would you say, do it first and we will worry about it afterwards? yeah now apply this to Iraq and Bush.

I do know Bush’s true intentions. They are righteous and pure. He cares about us all as if we were his own children. He would never sacrifice us for his own gain.

“…it is being done to protect people.” But you have to remember that many people–soldiers and many Iraqi civilians–have been killed because of all of this. And many say that Bush is doing it simply to protect himself–that is, his political career. Remember that, through miscommunication, America and Great Britain let bin Laden get away, and some argue that going after Hussein was a way of “making up” for that screwup (I’m not saying I necessarily buy that, but it’s a possibility).
The fact is, I don’t know what the crap Bush’s true intentions are.

So, I think that he’s doing a good job. I’m not a huge fan of war but I don’t think this is a regular war. We are not doing it for gaining land or anything, it is being done to protect people. I do think that maybe some decisions were hastily made but Bush is not perfect. He has to make ginormous decisions all the time. I hope you understand that. I like America a lot.

One week I’ll hear some argument for the war and I’ll think, “you know, he may rub off as a tongue-tied redneck, but what if this Iraq thing really does help out in the long run?” And then another week I’ll be thinking, “what a stupid, manipulative hypocrite who has destroyed so many for his own political advantage.” But neither becomes my concrete opinion (isn’t that what all of these politicians are using anyway: opinions?).
Some may think it’s a matter of weakness that one cannot take sides on the whole issue. But not me. I honestly can say that I don’t know if the Iraq War is a justified war or not. I’m in the dark!
