It is the film called “Once”.
It isn’t out on DVD for another few months…but I have a screener copy of it that you can download if you’re really really interested. It has an annoying blurry bar across the top for the entire film.
It’s worth it though. This is my new favorite movie of all time. (for right now at least).
also, hi everybody!

this link: http://www.hollywoodchicago.com/2007/05/for-once-carney-casts-musicians-not.html
has some samples of the music in the film (as well as an interview with the director and the main actors).
and here’s the trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/once/
probably my favorite song from the film, being performed by the main actor at the screening of the movie.

I’m going to try to see it. You have great taste usually, James.
i’m glad you have this new love, jimmah. however, i must say that the movie wasn’t my cup of tea. rachel and i saw it a couple nights ago. it’s the first movie that i didn’t rush to the bathroom or back to my seat when i had to pee during the showing. in fact, i even hung out in the lobby for a bit and wasn’t worried about missing anything.
rachel liked it and is buying the soundtrack at this very moment.
can I ask WHY you didn’t like it?
here we go.
I recently heard that “I don’t know you, but I want you…” song on a Paste Music Sampler. The song’s not bad, but it’s an awful opening line to a song.
From the looks of the trailer, this movie looks like something I might like. I’ll give it a try, Jimmah.
yeah as a normal song that line would be crap…but it works in the film (and the whole soundtrack was written for the film by the two main actors/singers)
jon, you were one of the people I was thinking of when I made this post. I really think you’d like it.
wait Leo…what do you mean you “saw this a couple nights ago”?
I didn’t even know that it was in theaters…weird.
yip. saw it in a small-fry theater. it was in several small theaters in the city, now only 1.
