firstly, it’s good to see some new photos in the header rotation….nice work, whoever.
wow…it’s been a busy month. I’ve been to Mississippi with you guys, Illinois with my family, and most recently California for nearly a week.
My buddy Mark (he came on the float trip once) picked me up at LAX and we drove the scenic route up to San Francisco. 7 hours. This is hwy 1….pacific coast highway….one of the most beautiful roads…probably anywhere. Anyway…great trip. We visited the Full House house and many other attractions. Spent a few days in the LA area early last week and met with a guy I’m developing some furniture with. And on the flight back to KC I sat next to the sales guy for Bernhardt Design…basically THE name in contemporary furniture. So, that was pretty amazing….I proceeded to spill my cup of ice all over the place….fumbling around….

Jordin Sparks has a song called “Virginia is for Lovers” on her CD. iTunes won’t let you buy the song by itself, just the whole album. I would feel stupid buying it by myself, but not if we all pitched in on “Promotional Material”.

I wasn’t aware of this, but the Library of Congress has a Flickr stream of tons and tons of old photos of American culture. Check out there 1930s-1940s in color set, it’s incredible.

Mississippi was a good time. It was nice hanging out with all the guys and especially getting to hang out with Drew. I had not seen them in awhile. Our second night in the hotel went better than the first. We were pretty darn tired so the smoke/crappiness did not bother us as much. (at least me since i actually had a blanket and found the heater). The trip back was pretty peaceful because most of us were sleeping, so it wasn’t that eventful although Jimmy got told to tithe by a gas station worker. I guess since it was Sunday, it wasn’t totally inappropriate, but it still was a bit random. I also learned that Daniel is a crazy driver, but I don’t think anyone died. whew! The trip as a whole was great, and i would not of traded it for anything. I would say that I did the most complaining, but in my defense I am still trying to get back into a steady sleeping schedule so I am a bit cranky. I definately think we need to do this again. It’s not like Mississippi is a far drive, and minus the motel everything was great!

the motel….
our expectations were not met. Firstly, they gave us a smoking room…and they thought there were only 2 of us…also, when you go into the bathroom and close the door….you’re locked in. The knob on the inside just spins….however you can jimmy it open with an ink pen….the bathroom door has a couple bashes in it and the shower.
the overall cleanliness was possibly questionable, but Lewis found it most so and refused to sleep on the bed…for sanitary reasons. so, he slept on the floor…sans blanket and wrapped a smokey pillow in a t-shirt.
daniel and i each had our own beds and jimmah squeezed an air mattress between them….which was quite noisy when he moved.
also noisy….the amount of snoring in the room was staggering.
drew/vanita made some breakfast for the hungry amongst us.

We ate at Lamberts and came out of there stuffed to the bungholes in food. Was awkward. We then had a nice conversation that started on my lack of willingness to work and moved to whether we desired impregnating lots of women to whether or not man can be perfect in his heart. This is why friends and road trips exist.
So….we will be giving updates. Perhaps with pictures. Because we are geeks. Thanks!
–We are now on south 55. Heading to Mississippi. Our first stop will be in Sikeston for Lambert’s. We are thinking of trying to have a mobile LAN party at some point. Like, in a car or van…as someone drives. Wicked. There is a restaurant called Bambino’s up ahead. That’s cool. I hate semi’s. They are huge and terrifying.
