Also, Jacob’s already going to be down here with me for the trip, but if there are only going to be like 4 people on the buffalo river trip….let’s freaking change the plans. Location, time… whatever. This is probably the only time I’ll see most of you this year…

I invited 2 friends from KC…haven’t heard if they’re in for sure though.
I have off for work already and was planning on the dates of 23-25. Is this an open invite now? I’m not complaining but it just seems like we are getting alot of ppl going, apart from the person bringing them none of us know them. I personally don’t care but, if everybody brings a friend then inevitably they will hang out almost exclusively with whom they brought so I’ll want to arrange a buddy to come with me as well. I’m sure once it gets closer we’ll be able to compile a list so we can see how many water craft we need. Also a suggestion can we get rafts instead of canoes this year? My buddies float on rafts and they are more stable draft shallower and you can haul more stuff. I think we all remember the soaking wet sleeping bags.
daniel also told me at church he didn’t know if he could make it he might be in mexico and jon said that he definitely couldn’t

it’s sort of tradition to do canoes… makes it more exciting. rafts are more for booze-fests… but, I can be flexible if everyone else wants to do that. We’d probably do a much shorter float if we do that because they travel about half the speed.

Yeah, we’ve pretty much had new people on the float trip every year. It never turns into a “hang out with your buddy you brought” type thing. In fact it has always been that they make new friends with everyone. Obviously who we invite is important because they have to be someone that we can all get along with (seriously, who invited Peter Sluis that one year?) but most likely we’d all get along with any of our friends friends anyway.
I am glad that Brandon Hammond and Mark Roland and Josh McAleese are people that I’ve got to meet and become friends with because of the float trip.
I wouldn’t be averse to going on a raft, especially since we’re on a new river. What if we do a one-day float, but we make it take 2 days? That way we can dawdle and swim and goof off more.
Sorry, guys. I’m not coming. I’ve traveled way too much this summer and can’t spend the time or the money.

yeah, honestly i think most of us could pitch in some extra bucks to send some people on scholarship. don’t let money stop any of you…
it’ll probably be about 30-40 per person depending on what we float on. plus, food, and a few bucks for gas…depending on how you carpool, etc.

I can maybe tangle up 100 bucks for the weekend..that’s for all the stuff and gas etc. We need to figure if we want to take two cars or one large vehicle..like a van, limo, or Ryan’s Beast. Drew, maybe we could support your gas to get there? Though if time and commitment is an issue, I understand that a lot too. I’m really looking forward to this. BTW, I’m designated manly man this year.

I am happy to take 4 guys and all thier gear. I have a 4 person “comfortably” tent and its called a 7 person tent.
oh and I am not on face book. I feel those online communities are slowly stealing out souls. myspace is how the anichrist will become popular, God told me this.
Time is the biggest issue. I will have taken about 3 weeks off this summer after Vanita’s family reunion wraps up.
