First…I think I have made my decision. I believe I will be leaving for Asia sometime within the next 6 months.
Second. My uncle died this morning in his sleep sometime. It was not expected. I dunno how my family at home is doing. I think it’s not going the best but everyone is trying to be strong for my Aunt. I’ll be home this Thursday and reading scripture at his funeral on Friday. It is my Uncle Bob for those who may know him. Pray for my family. Thanks guys.

So…I need to make a decision within the next two weeks. Do I stay in Mexico or go to Asia?
In Mexico I help children who are pretty much orphans except for the fact that my organization legally adopts and raises them through adulthood. I teach English, help groups that come from the US, and try to be a good example to the kids. Pretty much a tour guide, teacher, babysitter at times.
In Asia I would go to college as a way to be involved in the culture and learn the language. Through that I would have an impact on teenage and young adults. This would be a much more evangelical type situation. Less of a taking care of people and more of a spreading the Word situation.

Ok guys…my current laptop is starting to have some real issues. I want to buy a new one…really soon. Pluses and minuses for both sides. Why should I get one or the other? It’ll be used for all my communication pretty much, photos, video, internet, light gaming probably, and other various tasks. I need to order over the next couple days if I am to get it while in the States in August. Macbook Pro or a decent Custom built PC laptop?
General specs:
4 gig ram
SD slot
2.53 Duo Core
256 Dedicated Graphics memory
Multi-drive/Superdrive
13-15 inch screen

We’re living about 12 miles outside of Mountain View, Arkansas. It’s known as the folk music capital of the world. It’s a nifty place and we like it. The awesome cabin, 50-some acres, and big creek are Rachel’s parent’s retirement property. We’re not sure how long we’ll be here, but possibly another year. We have no plans following that. We currently have 3 cats and 6 chickens.
We’re expecting our first child in 4-8 weeks. We have a midwife and, as things progress normally, will be having the baby here at our home. We’re taking an 8 week Bradley birthing class in Little Rock (2 hr drive) - which is exceptionally insightful. It’s basically a natural, husband-coached birthing method. Baby boy or girl? - we’re being surprised.
I’m still working from home doing design work for Way Basics, The Rocket Group, various freelance clients, and my own stuff. I sent my first piece, Conversation Table, to a gallery in Chicago this year. It hasn’t sold yet, but the gallery owner is confident. I’m also sending one to the first US sustainable design show house in Washington, DC this fall.
Daily, we drive an 01 VW Golf or a 91 S-10. We also have a 72 VW Superbeetle that’s been in the shop all year getting an engine overhaul - hopefully we’ll have it soon. I’m also getting my 75 CB550 running/driving… hopefully will be cruising on it soon.
Other highlights of 2009 - we witnessed our cat have 8 kittens, we survived without A/C, electricity, and water for extended periods of time, celebrated Jacob’s wedding on the beach, designed and built a chicken coop and a changing table, built a bridge.

So I wanted to design something but realized that I would keep putting it off. So here goes with just text.
I am 24 and I live in Adams, TN about 40 minutes north of Nashville. I have been here for the last three and a half years working with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and I have been loving it. I get to travel all over the world doing crazy things for the Lord. Sometimes even getting to share Jesus in illegal ways and see God do miracles. The count of countries is up to eleven. Highlight of this last year would be going to Brazil and getting to know my now girlfriend and having God speak to me very vividly through a dream about it. Crazy times! Her name is Erin and she is from California. I go to church in downtown Nashville in what used to be the worst ghetto in Nashville but has now been completely transformed. It’s called the Fortress Fellowship and we meet in what we call the Foundry. I drive a 2004 Mazda Tribute but I still own the NX 2000 (anybody want to buy it? needs lots of work). In the next year I want to go to a country that I have never been to before.

I am going to try to plan a float for the weekend of august 22. Whomever whats to join let me know soon. gotta get a head count. The first weekend in august is the fair. It will be the weekend following the next weekend. I am planning on floating from akers to twin rivers this time. it will add about 5 hours of float time. thoughts? I always feel the second day ends far too soon. Casey and I are already down so we’d like to get 2 to 4 more people to go. Obviously more than 4 would be great but at least another 2.

So I’ll be in the USA, mostly in the Missouri area, July 30th-August 17th. The second week in August is my best week to just chill and catch up with some of you if you have time/would like to. So let me know what is going on in ya’lls life. I wouldn’t mind driving a little too.
